Services We Offer

At High Horses Center for Equine-Assisted Services, we are dedicated to providing transformative equine experiences that enhance the well-being of individuals with diverse needs. Our wide range of services is thoughtfully designed to support people of all ages and abilities—whether you're seeking recreational riding, clinical therapy, emotional support, or group learning experiences. Each program fosters growth, connection, and healing through the unique bond between horses and humans, with a focus on personalized care and intentional outcomes.

Our Programs at a Glance

  • A recreational program designed to teach horseback riding and horsemanship skills to individuals who benefit from physical, emotional, or cognitive adaptations. Sessions are led by PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors (CTRI) and focus on riding, groundwork, and developing confidence through connection with horses.

  • Licensed occupational and physical therapists provide medical-based treatment that may include the strategic use of equine movement. These sessions target functional goals such as strength, balance, sensory processing, and motor skills. The horse is a tool—not the therapy itself—used intentionally to support healing.

  • Clinical mental health counseling provided by licensed professionals, with the option to include interactions with horses and nature to support emotional regulation, trust-building, and personal growth. Ideal for individuals and families seeking evidence-based, relational care.

  • Experiential, group-based programs that focus on personal growth, communication, leadership, and learning through guided interactions with horses. EAL is not therapy—it’s a learning-focused approach ideal for children, teens, and adults seeking to build skills in a unique, hands-on setting.

  • A group-based equine program created for those who serve on the frontlines—veterans, nurses, teachers, EMS professionals, and firefighters. Participants engage in structured, hands-on activities with horses that foster communication, emotional healing, and stress management. Offered in partnership with organizations, this supportive setting helps individuals reconnect, build resilience, and find renewal through the powerful presence of horses.

Our programs are held year-round

High Horses programs are offered year-round in seasonal blocks, with scheduling tailored to the needs of each program and participant. While some services follow a 6–8 week session format, others—like counseling or community-based programs—may run on a different timeline.

Our team is composed of a diverse group of licensed, credentialed, and certified professionals, including—but not limited to—PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors (CTRIs), licensed mental health counselors, physical and occupational therapists, and equine specialists. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that each participant receives the highest quality care and instruction, customized to their goals and needs.

Whether you're participating in mounted activities, ground-based horsemanship, or therapeutic sessions, you'll be supported by a qualified and compassionate team dedicated to helping you grow and thrive.

Indoor Arena

Our fully enclosed Indoor Arena provides a safe, accessible space for year-round programming. It features a wheelchair-friendly mounting ramp, a Guldmann Ceiling Lift, and an Observation Room for parents and caregivers. The arena’s layout allows for multiple activities centers.

Outdoor Arena

Our large, fully fenced Outdoor Arena is ideal for riding, driving, and other equine activities. Our Gazebo overlooks the arena, providing a comfortable space for parents and caregivers to observe. The arena’s size and layout allow for multiple lessons or group activities to take place safely and effectively.

Trails

Set on our scenic 38-acre property, our trail system offers a peaceful, natural environment for mounted and ground-based experiences. The trails feature varying gradients, mountain views, and sensory-rich activity stations designed to support engagement, confidence, and connection with nature.

Process for Participation

At High Horses, we aim to make the intake process as thoughtful and efficient as possible to ensure a good fit for each participant. Here's how it works:

  1. Initial Interest Form
Begin by completing our Program Inquiry Form on our website. This helps us understand your needs and determine if we have an opening that suits you.

  2. Phone Consultation
Our team will follow up with a phone call to discuss your goals and availability. If we currently have an appropriate opening, including a suitable horse and staff member, we’ll invite you to begin the intake process. If not, we’ll add you to our waitlist until a spot becomes available.

  3. Complete Intake Forms
Once a spot is confirmed, we will create a client profile in our system and provide you with the necessary intake paperwork. Required documents vary slightly depending on the type of service but may include:

    • Participant Intake Form

    • Physician’s Medical Clearance Form

    • For Therapy services: A physician's prescription or referral

    • For Mental Health services: Additional consent forms and a treatment packet

Please note: All paperwork must be completed and submitted before we can schedule an in-person evaluation.

  4. In-Person Evaluation
When all required paperwork is received, our team will schedule an in-person evaluation. This visit allows us to assess for any contraindications and collaboratively set goals and a treatment plan. It’s also a valuable opportunity for you to experience our setting and ensure we’re the right fit for your needs.
